Class 4 Chepstow Castle Trip
On Friday (31st), we went on a trip to Chepstow castle where we hoping to continue our wonderful learning about Medieval Britain. The children weren't too keen on the early start but soon warmed into the day, especially as the sun emerged for the day. We looked at the outside of the castle and discussed the clever defence mechanisms built in. The children were particularly interested in the medieval toilets (a hole that dropped onto the River Wye). After a brief tour, the children were able to have some free time to explore the grounds. I was really impressed with their respectful and curious attitude throughout. In the afternoon, the children extended their Art learning by completing some sketches of the castle walls using a range of lines and shading. Before leaving, Mr Wiggans took the children on a hunt around the walls of the castle to find the 'secret spy holes' used for subtle escapes. It was a wonderful day which hopefully the children benefitted from. Well done Class 4.
