Farm School - Essebeare Farm Autumn Term Class 1
Farm School - Class 1
12/11/2020 It was wonderful to return to Essebeare Farm this week for our first visit of the year. Mrs North's group of Reception children were full of excitement as they donned their wellies and boarded the minibus! They thoroughly enjoyed meeting the rabbit and the chickens and were surprised to learn about the importance of animal manure in fertilizing the soil. The children collected a range of leaves, berries, flowers and sticks with great enthusiasm and created beautiful Mandala artwork. They also enjoyed meeting the cows and calves and finding out that cows have four stomachs and why farmer Olly needs to tag the calves ears. However, the real highlight for this group of young boys was undoubtedly the wonderful opportunity to dig up some potatoes and to discover beans in their pods - they were truly delighted, returning to school with even more excitement! Thank you to Farmer Olly and Mary for a superb afternoon.
