World Book Day 2021 - Julia Donaldson
Today (Friday 26th March 2021) is our belated World Book Day! Out theme for this year is Julia Donaldson. The children all look fantastic in their Julia Donaldson themed outfits. Well done, Everyone. Please check out our website and Facebook page for more brilliant photos.
We decided to focus our activities this year around the book 'The Snail and the Whale'. All the children have worked hard to create their own tasty snails from puff pastry and cheese! They then went on to write letters back from the snail on his adventures to the other snails left on the rock. The children then had fun creating artwork and sculpture of different parts of the story. During the day, the children had the opportunity to complete a Snail themed orienteering course in the school playground. Thank you to all the staff for all your hard work and creativity you have put into our World Book Day celebrations.
As part of the celebrations in Class 2, the children had an opportunity to talk to a real-life author! We really enjoyed listening to Phillipa Davies, Author of Smidge and the Mountain Mooobles, reading her story and then we were able to ask some questions to Phillipa about her story. Thank you to Phillipa for talking to us about your story and for answering our questions! If you would like to purchase a copy of the book, you can do so here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Smidge-Mountain-MoOobles-Philippa-Davies/dp/1839753307 10% of all proceeds will go towards NHS charities.
